About Me

From the time I took my first dance class at the age of three, I have had a passion for the arts. Performing in recitals in elementary school, playing the French horn and flute in the high school marching band, appearing in community theatre productions such as Camelot, Oliver!, and Bye, Bye Birdie (where I played the lead role of Kim), performing arts have always been a big part of my life.

I received an Associate’s Degree in Music Theatre from Western Wyoming Community College. While at WWCC, I served as the Dance Captain/Assistant Choreographer for the college’s production of A Chorus Line and performed in roles such as Rapunzel in Into the Woods.

Following my time at WWCC, I travelled to Santiago, Chile, where I lived for 18 months. In Santiago, I formed a small religious choir that performed in a variety of Churches and religious centers around Santiago in during the Christmas and Easter seasons.

Upon my return from Chile, I enrolled at Brigham Young University as a Dance major. I received several awards for my academic and creative work at BYU. I will say to anyone that dancing on the Great Wall of China was one of my favorite experiences there.

I put my education to work right after graduation, guest teaching and choreographing at local schools. I continued my contribution to the arts and education by working as Choreographer for a variety of middle and high school music theatre productions, including 42nd Street, The Lion King, Oklahoma, Once On This Island, Annie, and more.

I have served as both a coach and judge for state and multi-state high school drama and dance competitions. My choreography has won awards at the multi-state High School Shakespeare Competition, presented by the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival.

In 2019, my family and I moved to Connecticut where I worked as Assistant Choreographer for a middle school production of High School Musical, Jr. I became a Performing Arts teacher in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for a couple of years.

I am currently attending graduate school, studying to attain my MFA in Theater Education in 2025, as well as pursue a career in teaching and training movement classes for actors.

Education

2023- Dec 2025

pending

Mississippi University for Women

My latest endeavor is working on a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre Education.

2004-2008

Bachelors of Arts
Brigham Young University

At Brigham Young University (BYU), I was one of the first to graduate under the "new" dance program. Instead of focusing on one particular genre of dance, I took classes in many different forms; ballet, modern, tap, jazz, world, ballroom, etc. including classes in dance education and teaching methodologies. I performed with a group called "Kinnect", which traveled to New York and across the Western states to teach creative movement and educational dance to various elementary school classes. Another highlight of my time with BYU was the dance study abroad I did in China, including Hang Zhou University and Beijing Dance Academy. I was also published twice with undergraduate research papers and presentations.

1999-2002

Associates of Fine Arts
Western Wyoming Community College

I received a full ride scholarship to study Musical Theatre at Western. The program was so intimate that I was able to study all areas of the theatre: acting, singing, dancing, music theory, set design, costume design, lighting, makeup, etc, giving me a well-rounded base for theatre education.

Goals

For a long time, I have been fascinated by movement and all the things it can do. With my love for both dance and theatre intact, I have decided to pursue a career as a "Movement Tutor and Director"- teaching actors and other performers not only the power of movement, but the benefits, and how to be most efficient when moving as a character.

Because I have also developed a love of teaching and of others aspiring to move well. I have also decided to be a teacher. I have been a teacher, director, and choreographer of theatre since 2008. But, I hope that when I am finished with my Masters program, I can teach and be a movement specialist at a small college or university. I would want to teach theatre class, particularly in acting and developing a physical character. I would also enjoy teaching some dance classes, and other movement classes, like kinesiology, motor learning, basic anatomy and physiology- revealing how knowing these things is beneficial for movement practitioners.
